Lövsta Stuteri’s El Barone 111 Z (Emerald van’t Ruytershof-Libero H) is stepping down from the international sport and will stand stud at his birthplace, Stud 111 in Belgium, during the 2024 breeding season.

Born in 2012 at Stud 111, El Barone 111 Z was bred by Stud 111 and Baron de Borrekens. He developed into a successful stallion, boasting a career in breeding as well as top sport. To this point El Barone 111 Z has sired 14 approved sons and numerous promising offspring coming up in the sport and showing international quality.

El Barone competed successfully in young horse divisions with Rachel Steffen and Peter Kenis who gave him an excellent foundation. Later the reins were taken over by Swedish rider Malin Baryard Johnsson that moved him up to 5* Grand Prix level and then Jens Fredricson continued his career.

-" El Barone is a horse of huge ability and talent. He has shown his exceptional capacity in the ring that is passed on to his young offspring, " says Jens Fredricson, rider, and breeding advisor at Lövsta Stuteri.

Despite his success in the show ring El Barone 111 Z sometimes find the competition environment stressful which has made his show career come to an end. Lövsta Stuteri always puts the horse first which is why El Barone 111 Z will solely focus on breeding in the future. Stud 111 is the most obvious choice with our shared commitment to horsemanship, horse welfare and professionalism as well as El Barone’s high demand in Belgium.

- "El Barone is coming home! We are delighted that one of the best horses we have ever bred is returning to us. We also look forward to expanding our collaboration with Lövsta Stuteri and offering him to breeders across Europe," says Victor Theeuwes, owner of Stud 111.

- "We are deeply grateful for our journey with El Barone. First through the partnerships with Erik Laenen and Roshoeve, and then with riders Malin Baryard Johnsson and Jens Fredricson. Today the daily work with El Barone’s offsprings in our stable shows me the amazing quality he passes on, " says Alexandra Mörner, head of the show jumping stallion program at Lövsta Stuteri.
